YEAR: 1957
BRAND: PEUGEOT
MODEL: 403 CABRIOLET
CHASSIS: 2118854
Our client's project was to carry out a complete restoration on his 1957 Peugeot 403 Cabriolet, an exceptional model in more ways than one. Among the 2,500 examples produced, this one is the only one to have benefited from the special treatment of Émile Darl'Mat. Ordered on the occasion of its official presentation at the Paris Motor Show, it left the La Garenne-Colombes factories on May 16, 1957 to be delivered directly to the Darl'Mat garage, in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, before being handed over to its first owner. Unlike his other preparations, Darl'Mat chose not to modify the bodywork, focusing on the mechanics by installing an engine initially intended for a coupé and adding a rev counter, as had been done on the 203 Darl'Mat and the five 403 coupés. After covering more than 450,000 km, it benefited in 1986 from a thorough overhaul and a light restoration. Our mission is to restore its full brilliance through a complete restoration, worthy of its history and exclusivity.
